Aston Villa Considering Alexander Sörloth Move After Scouting Mission in Turkey

Aston Villa are preparing to move for on-loan Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sörloth, with a €15m move being touted by one report.

The Norwegian has impressed on loan in Turkey with Trabzonspor, registering 21 goals and six assists in 32 appearances this season.

His form, having endured a miserable time at Palace, has come as somewhat of a surprise, attracting the attention of many clubs across Europe.

Sörloth is thought to be surplus to requirements at Palace - Roy Hodgson deeming him unsuitable despite the Eagles' woes in front of goal - and Turkish publication Aksam claim that Villa are now interested in striking a deal.

The Villans sent scouts to watch Trabzonspor's clash with Fenerbahce recently, initially keeping an eye out for striker Vedat Muriqi, but leaving with Sorloth firmly in their sights.

Trabzonspor can sign Sörloth at the end of his loan for approximately €6m, but it seems that Villa's considerably larger valuation - an amount that Aksam seem to have plucked out of thin air - would be a whole lot more tempting to both Palace and the player.

Any potential talks will have to wait until the season has come to an end, and will likely hinge on whether or not Aston Villa are still a Premier League club next campaign. Dean Smith's side are just a point above the relegation zone at present, with their season full of inconsistent performances.

One reason for Villa's struggles this season has been their profligacy in front of goal. They have relied heavily on the input of Jack Grealish, with big-money summer signing Wesley struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League prior to his season-ending injury.

The signing of Genk striker Mbwana Samatta has provided some respite up front for Villa, and the Tanzanian is already off the mark after netting in the recent defeat against fellow strugglers Bournemouth. But if Villa do survive, they'll likely need to make some changes - and if Sörloth can continue impressing for Trabzonspor, he may get another crack at the Premier League.
