Afobe who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers last January is on an impressive form as he scored 15 goals in 23 appearances with the Wolves, two of these goals were scored this season against Blackburn and Newport County.

Tim Sherwood still wants to make additions to his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, However, The Wolves manager Kenny Jacket stated that the young striker is not for sale.

“It’s not something we’re thinking about” he said.

“Does it happen when you have good young players? Yes it does, we’re naive enough to think that it doesn’t happen and even last year there was quite a lot of speculation about him"

“Building a good, young, successful team here is our aim and moving on our best players isn’t something we’re working towards.”

“My aim for him is to keep him involved continually because he does need to be central and focal to what we do and get on the ball as many times as he can in a game,” the Wolves boss said.

“As long as he can still get into the striking area and it doesn’t take him out of the main area which wins games."

“That’s a balance, but similarly being up there too much and not getting involved can be frustrating, so somewhere in between the two where he can come short or go long."

“He’s got the ability to run over the top and come short for the ball."

“That’s very difficult to defend against

He’s got the ability to go both ways and for a top class player that’s a big asset to have and for us it’s designed to make him as involved as he possibly can be to get on the ball continually.”

Benik Afobe joined the Wolves from Premier League side Arsenal in a three-and-a-half-year deal for a fee reported to be around 2 million pound.

The former Arsenal player who failed to make an appearance during his five seasons at the Emirates Stadium finished the last season as the joint-top scorer in the country with 32 goals.

The former England U-21 player has an impressive goal-scoring record with the English youth teams as he scored 23 goals in 38 appearance.
