Chelsea Among Trio of Premier League Clubs Chasing Milan Target Antonee Robinson

Premier League sides Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle are all said to be keen on adding Wigan left back Antonee Robinson to their squads over the summer.

The 22-year-old was subject to a surprise late bid from Italian giants AC Milan during the winter transfer window, though the move eventually fell through as the Latics full back was unable to complete a medical in time.

Reports late in January suggested those in charge at San Siro were willing to pay £10m for the young United States international.

Antonee Robinson

Milan’s interest has not gone unnoticed and Robinson is now said to have attracted a number of potential Premier League suitors, with Frank Lampard's Blues the most high profile team said to covet the youngster, according to the Mirror.

Since having their two-window transfer ban reduced in December, Chelsea are thought to be in the market for a left back. Neither Marcos Alonso nor Emerson has impressed manager Lampard and both could find themselves heading for the Stamford Bridge exit, with Cesar Azpilicueta forced to fill in at left back in recent weeks.

Villa and Newcastle are also said to be keeping an eye on Robinson, but with the Wigan man under contract until 2022 the Latics won’t be forced into selling the youngster for any less than he's worth.

Robinson joined Wigan on a permanent deal in July 2019, signing from Everton for just under £2m having spent the previous season on loan at the DW Stadium. The full back also had a season on loan at Bolton, having failed to make an impression at Goodison Park.

Frank Lampard

The 22-year-old’s performances have seen him earn international recognition, making his USA debut in 2018 and going on to win a further six caps.

He has made 29 appearances in the Championship so far this season, scoring once with Wigan currently 22nd in England's secondary tier and four points from safety.
