In the thick of it: N'Zogbia joined Aston Villa in the summer

N'Zogbia was brought in by Villa manager Alex McLeish to replace the departed Ashley Young and Stewart Downing and is determined to show the form which helped keep the Latics in the top flight.

He said: 'There's definitely more to come from me. It's only been a month and a half since I came here.

Reunion: The former Wigan star is set to face his old club

'I think we are missing something in the final third.

'Perhaps we are too direct but hopefully a goal or assist will help me to feel more confident in the team.

'I focus on being on top of my game and don't worry about the transfer fee. I am not concerned with the money that was paid. I just try and win football matches.

'I know I just have to step up a gear. I just want to work hard whether I have a good or a bad day.'

N'Zogbia added: 'I heard they ran out of the letter 'Z' in the club shop which is flattering for me of course when I see people walking around with my name on their shirt.

'It gives you a lot of confidence and you feel like you want to do it for them because they are really behind you and supporting you so it makes you never want to give up.

'For me it was slightly strange at first but it definitely gives me the extra encouragement to play the way I can.'
