Summer signings spurn Spurs

Villa claimed a morale boosting win at White Hart Lane on Monday, proving that they have strengthened in all the right areas over the summer.
Spurs, on the other hand, looked all at sea as the away side dominated possession and created plenty of clear cut chances.
Juande Ramos has spent big over the summer but he has also recouped plenty.
And the huge sums received from the sales of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane didn't look nearly enough as their new look strike-force failed to hit it off.
Fair enough, Darren Bent, who spent most of last season in the wilderness, did grab a late consolation but Villa had the game won by then.
Nigel Reo-Coker opened the scoring after just four minutes and Ashley Young sealed the win in the second half.
Villa made a concerted effort to improve in problem positions over the summer, including in the full back areas and they reaped the benefits in a game very different to last season's corresponding fixture.
Martin O'Neill's men surrendered a 4-1 lead at the Lane and slack defending was most definitely their downfall.
But this time around, Villa were dominant in all areas of the pitch for almost 90 minutes.
Gareth Barry and Stiliyan Petrov were imperious in the middle of the park and behind them Martin Laursen and Curtis Davies appeared impenetrable.
Spurs debutant Roman Pavlyuchenko was restricted to half chances and he looked way off the pace of fast and furious Premier League football.
In all honesty, Villa didn't allow his premature partnership with Bent to flourish and credit must go to the backline.
Villa showed Spurs that they had learnt from the mistakes of last season.
For the home side its back to the drawing board, but for the Claret and Blue the errors have been erased.
