Aston Villa have officially completed the permanent signing of combative midfielder Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a transfer package valued at £38m.
The 25-year-old Brazil international has put pen to paper on a long term contract in the West Midlands, concluding rapid negotiations between the two clubs.
The complex financial structure of the deal will see Villa pay an initial fee of £34m upfront, with an additional £4m securely tied to performance related add-ons.
The arrival comes just three days after the club confirmed the signing of Swiss playmaker Johan Manzambi for a club record £59.5m, representing a total midfield restructure under manager Unai Emery.
Gomes will report for physical screening this week before integrating into the squad's pre season conditioning camp.
