A Win is a Win

There are opinions circulating that Villa should have given Hereford a good drubbing, and granted it should have been a game for target practice, but when all is said and done it was a victory and we are through to the next round. Goal difference means nothing in the cups.

There are a few areas concern, not least of which is the lack of supply to Darren Bent. If the commentary was to be believed, Bullseye Bent was getting rather frustrated with the lack of service in front of goal. There can be no excuses of using a second string team, because there were a lot of big names out there.

It highlights the continued need for a creative midfielder. Scott Parker is still available, or even Joey Barton. Someone is definitely needed because the last thing Villa need is a frustrated Darren Bent. Ireland is still to live up to his reputation.

It's pleasing that Bannan got a run out, and hopfully it proved that he is worth far more than the £1million that Blackpool are rumoured to be offering. He is a quality player that deserves a proper chance this season.

£1million for Bannan is an insult, and I suppose you can do no other than admire Blackpool's optimism. I'm off to the Lambourghini garage to offer them £500 for a new Gallardo.
