Agbonlahor out to prove point

The teenage winger spent a month on loan with Adie Boothroyd's team last season but failed to make an impact, starting just once during his four-week stint with the then Championship club. The 19-year-old has forced himself into the Villa side this season and is looking to showcase his talents in Hertfordshire. "I didn't really play much in my spell there, but things have gone really well for me since then, so hopefully I can prove a bit of a point," he told the Birmingham Mail. "I know most of their players though, so hopefully I can give the gaffer a bit of information!

"I think I'm definitely a better player now than when I went to Watford. The more games you get under your belt at this level, the better you should become as a player. It can only help you improve." The same seems to be true of the Villa side this term, as they have gone from strength to strength under Martin O'Neill and that form is rubbing off on the players. "If we're at our best, we fancy our chances going into any game. That confidence is growing all the time," Agbonlahor continued.

The side could welcome back Milan Baros for the trip to Watford, after the Czech striker scored twice for the reserve team earlier this week but O'Neill has warned against complacency, pointing to the fact that although the Premiership newcomers have lost three of their opening four fixtures, they were all by the odd goal. "I've only had a few minutes in his [Boothroyd's] company, but you could see that he possesses a self-confidence that has been backed up by Watford's terrific achievement last season," said O'Neill. "He is a young manager, brimming with enthusiasm and I'm looking forwards to the game immensely."
