Alpay, who only has nine months remaining on his contract at Villa Park, told Turkish newspaper Milliyet that discussions have already taken place with the German Bundesliga side's managing director Dieter Hoeness.
"I can go to Hertha. I want to play in Europe," he said.
If the reports are true then Villa may well look to cash in on the Turkish centre-back before he becomes a free agent at the end of his Villa contract next year.
