Alpay saga drags on

And although Alpay was dropped from the first team last month he is now set to regain his place on Monday night against Southampton instead of the injured Ronny Johnsen.

However, the Turkish international remains on the transfer list and seems determined to quit Villa Park.

But Taylor warned: "Alpay's had a reality check because no club has come in for him. The message has come home to Alpay, but I think he is a talented player.

“He is entitled to ask for a transfer, but I’m trying to establish a total togetherness. I’m asking players if they are in it with me.

“I’m telling Alpay that we’re not looking to kick him out, but I can’t afford to go through all that nonsense we had before when the transfer window opens in January.

“I don’t expect players not in the first team to be happy but I do expect them to commit themselves to the club if we are to be successful."
