Are Draws Enough to Satisfy Fans?

Last updated : 16 September 2011 By Matt LeCameron

I raise this point not from my own opinion (I stress this most clearly), but from others that I have been privy to. Some supporters are not massively impressed with the consistent draws so far this season, and in true Villa fan fashion they are looking for more to happen. So, I though it would be interesting to find out what the general consensus is amongst the Villa fans.

There are still a lot of McLeish haters out there. It is a shame, but there are, and they will be looking for any excuse to loudly call for his replacement. Will the continuing theme of draws be enough for this to happen? I  hate it when fans boo at players and managers, but I can't help but think that there is still a fine line for Big Eck.

Personally, I am right behind the manager and I am pleased to be doing anything other than losing. The longer we can keep the 'unbeaten' tag, the better, because we are making progress. But I know that there are people that do not share this view.

Someone once said in conversation that a draw is the worst possible result in football. They argued that a win is what you want, but losing would fire the team up for the next game. A draw was just a dull spectacle. I think this is absolute nonsense, but does anyone else agree with this?

Granted, there are games so far this season that we should have won, but there have been no definite expected victories- not even the Blackburn game. All said, the results seem to have gone with play, except perhaps the Everton game where we did exceptionally well to grind out a point.

I think the season is going exceptionally well so far, especially when the turmoil of the last year is taken into consideration. I'm well behind the players and the manager, but thought it might be interesting to find out if, as some have mentioned recently, continued draws will not be enough.
