Carlos Cuellar returns for Aston Villa after a three-week lay-off with a hamstring injury, but he is one of only three available defenders. Richard Dunne, James Collins and Luke Young are out and Ciaran Clark begins a two-match ban for accumulating 10 bookings, but Jean II Makoun is back.

Wolves pair Michael Mancienne and Michael Kightly could feature after long-term knee injuries.

Adlene Guedioura might return from the broken leg he suffered against Villa.

MATCH PREVIEW

Wolves are at Villa's door at the end of a week in which the hosts have had to put their house in order.

There was no fracas, but Dunne and Collins have been disciplined...There are nine games now and all will be played with the same qualities of commitment and will to win

Villa manager Gerard Houllier

Too much huff and puff has proved to be a problem for senior defenders Richard Dunne and James Collins, who have been fined a maximum two weeks' wages for reportedly criticising Villa's intense workouts a little too forcibly during a team-bonding trip.

It is the latest incident of infighting that has afflicted the club this season. Still, if the last two months of the season are survival of the fittest, relegation-threatened Villa may yet have cause to thank the punishing regime imposed by French fitness trainer Robert Duverne. And it is punishing; captain Stiliyan Petrov has previously joked that his "next level of fitness is dying."

Wolves remain very much alive in their quest to stay up. They are in their best form of the season and a first win over Villa for three decades would put them only a point behind their neighbours.
