Barry eying England call-up

Last updated : 12 November 2002 By VillaMAD
Both Graham Taylor and Marcus Allback are calling on the England boss to call on the in-form Barry to help solve the national sides left-sided player problems.

Swedish striker Allback insisted: "If I had Sven's telephone number, I would ring him right now and tell him to pick Gareth"

And, Villa boss Taylor, always reluctant to offer England advice, said: "When you are in charge at international level, you don't necessarily welcome club managers sticking their oar in.

"But in Gareth's case, I am prepared to make an exception. If Sven wanted to call him up for the November get-together, then my Villa lad would not be out of place."

Barry, who had a hand in Villa's second and third goals in the 3-1 victory over Fulham at Villa Park on Saturday, said: "All the talk that I might earn an England recall is very nice and it suits me fine."
