Clinical Villa hound Wolves

Last updated : 31 July 2006 By Pancho Villa

Although Wolves legend Steve Bull almost found the net early on, it was Liam Ridgewell that broke the deadlock after a neat exchange with Kevin Phillips before Gareth Barry doubled the lead with a quickly taken, curling free-kick. Gabriel Agbonlahor completed the win midway through the second half after latching onto a fine through ball from Wilfred Bouma to leave caretaker boss Roy Aitken in awe. "The concentration so far has been purely on football," he said as a 17th consortium entered the bidding for the club. "That's where the professionalism comes in."
