Darren Bent has a Tweet for Aston Villa fans

Last updated : 02 February 2011 By Daily Mail

Bent has landed himself in trouble in the past with his Tweets and once used his account to slam Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy over the England international's move from White Hart lane to Sunderland.

He has been quiet for a while but, after making a flying start to life at Villa, Bent is about to start Tweeting again.

Valid point: Bent's words of wisdom could be available on the internet again

He said: 'I'll be back on there soon. I felt it was best I kept off there for a little while but don't worry - I'll be back.'

The 26-year-old has two goals in three games since his ?24million transfer from the Stadium of Light last month and is settling in quickly at his new employers.

'I'm very happy - which is why I made the move here. I see great potential in the team. I believe this team can go a long, long way and I just wanted to be part of that.

'Now I am here I am over the moon and I hope things continue to go well.

'Birmingham is a nice city. I didn't know too much about it when I came here - it is bigger than I thought. The location is really ideal because it is in the centre. It is easy for me to go and visit my family.'

Bent is relishing the chance to play alongside Robert Pires. The former Arsenal star signed for Villa in November but has warmed the bench in the three games Bent has played.

'When I first walked in to the changing room and I met Pires I was a bit starstruck,' Bent added during a webchat on Villa's website.

'He has been a top, top player for many years and to play with one of the (Arsenal) Invincibles is fantastic.'

Manager Gerard Houllier handed Bent the No 39 shirt but the player is eyeing a jersey more fitting for a centre-forward.

Stephen Ireland is the current owner of the No 9 but has moved north to Newcastle on loan for the rest of the season.

Bent said: 'I don't want to show any disrespect to Stephen because he is still a Villa player but if ever it became available I would love to take the No 9 shirt.'
