Delaney's season probably over

The Wales international is sidelined with a knee ligament injury sustained in the recent Premiership game against Blackburn Rovers at Villa Park and must wait another fortnight to discover the full extent of damage.

"I don't think I'll be back this season. They've already given me a timescale of three months before I'm playing again," Delaney conceded.

"I won't be rushing back, I'll take my time. If everything goes alright, then perhaps I could make a couple of matches but with so much at stake it hardly seems necessary.

"I want to make sure I'm given the all clear and then have a good summer where I can get myself back for pre-season.

"This has definitely been my worst season. I had a good start, then got injured, then broke my foot and now this," he added.

"I've had so many injuries, it's been one after another and it does get you down.

"To return from a lengthy lay-off and then get injured three games into your comeback is appalling luck. People are saying: 'It could be worse', but that's exactly the last thing I want to hear. It's just very disappointing."
