Disagreements on InterToto cup

Manager Taylor has voiced concerns about entering the competition while the Villa board seem to favour entry into the competition that has been good to the club finanacially over the last three seasons.

Taylor has gone on record as saying: "I'm going off the idea of entering the InterToto. I've detected signs of tiredness among my players.

"I can possibly trace that back to us playing games in July. It fragments our pre-season."

However, with the news of the £8.1m half-yearly losses announced yesterday, it seems Taylor's opinions may fall on deaf ears.

Ansell said: "The board are of the opinion that we should again enter the competition. Anything that gives us the chance to qualify for the Uefa Cup has to be a good thing.

"I don't know what the manager's thoughts are but we should be speaking about it soon because entries have to be in by the end of next month."
