Millers boss Ronnie Moore confirmed he had tried to lure the striker to Millmoor on a loan deal but that his bid was turned down by Villa

"We tried for Dion Dublin on Wednesday but we couldn't get him," Moore told the Sheffield Star.

"I was on a course with David O'Leary in the summer and he said if he could help me out any time he would. So I called and asked him about Dion, but he said he couldn't really afford to let him go."
