Former Villans Capture Youngsters

There was an exodus of youth players at Villa Park on Thursday with a trio of starlets allowed to leave on loan.

Defender Nathan Baker and right back Eric Lichaj have both made one-month switches to League Two side Lincoln City and target man James Collins has joined another club in that division - Darlington.

All three players will be nurtured by former Villa favourites as ex-hitman Chris Sutton is the boss at Lincoln and legendary defender Steve Staunton has recently taken over at Darlo.

Of the three it looks like USA youth international Lichaj has the brightest future after he made some strong appearances during Villa's successful Peace Cup campaign.

The Claret and Blue managed to beat the likes of Porto and Juventus (via penalties) as they claimed the prestigious summer trophy and Lichaj won a number of admirers.

Sutton will count himself lucky to have the player and now it is up to all three youngsters to show they have what it takes to make it in the big time.
