Young Villan Gary Gardner played the full 90 minutes as England managed to claim a draw against Holland in the UEFA Under 17 European Championships.

Gardner, who is the younger brother of Villa's first team midfielder Craig, lined up alongside highly rated teenagers including Jack Wilshere of Arsenal and John Bostock of Tottenham.

The England side, managed by John Peacock, got off to a good start in the tournament as they managed to come from a goal down to claim a steady draw with the Dutch youngsters.

Leeds full back Luke Garbutt, 15, equalised for Peacock's men after Oguzhan Ozyakup of Arsenal put Holland ahead.

England nearly claimed a vital win ahead of games against Germany and Turkey but Everton's Jose Baxter was hauled down when through on goal and despite strong appeals the Greek referee failed to award a penalty.
