Hendrie apologises for outburst

Hendrie was upset at certain sections of the Villa following chanting that he was a Birmingham fan and he inadvertently fired the ball into the crowd in frustration.

After the game Hendrie was given a dressing down by manager David O'Leary and was keen to apologise to the fans for his behaviour.

“It was a silly thing to do, but it was sheer frustration at the way the game was going and the fact that we were losing," Hendrie told the clubs official site.

“The last thing you want on top of that is for the fans to start having a go. One or two started shouting that I was a Blues fan and that's just childish.

"But I shouldn't have reacted the way I did and I would like to apologise.”
