Hendrie was booed as he left the pitch in Villa's final home game of the season against Sunderland and obviously upset at the reaction of the crowd, had talks with the Villa boss over his future.

Taylor left Hendrie out of the side for Villa's final game of the season at Leeds and has told the midfielder to go away and think about his Villa Park future.

"Prior to the Leeds game, I had a conversation with Lee, who was disappointed with the reaction of the crowd after he was substituted against Sunderland," Taylor told the Birmingham Post.

"Lee has come through the system here and Aston Villa has been his only club. It is not surprising that he was upset.

"I told him that I would leave him out of the Leeds game so he could think of whether it was time for him to leave.

"He is now 26 and perhaps feels that it is time to move on. We have not had a second conversation yet, although it might be that Lee has already made his mind up.

"If not, we will see what happens in the summer."
