The Germany international midfielder will join the Bundesliga outfit after Sunday’s trip to Liverpool and although he is looking forward to the new challenge, he will miss the Holte Enders. “I’ve said before that this wasn’t an easy decision for me to make,” the 22-year-old told the club‘s official website. “I’ve loved my time here at Villa and I’ll be sad to say goodbye at the weekend. There are a lot of people I will miss at Villa, but most of all I’ll miss the fans.

“They have been fantastic with me ever since I arrived from Bayern Munich. They’ve backed me when I’ve played and they’ve always been friendly and supportive when I’ve met them in the street,” he continued allowing countless lazy stereotypes of a lederhosen-donned Thomas being clapped by an enthusiastic audience as he dances an impromptu Bavarian folk dance. “The fans here deserve a bit of success and I hope they get some over the next few years.” Which is why he is leaving.
