Juve finally approach Villa for Mellberg

Villa have been approached by Claudio Ranieri who wants to take Olof Mellberg to Juventus. The Italian giants have been linked with the 30 year old Swede for most of the season as his contract comes to an end in the summer.
It has now been made clear that an approach has been made to the Claret and Blue who may decide to cash in on the defender now, rather than wait until he leaves on a free.
What is not entirely obvious to those inside and outside the club, is whether Mellberg actually wants to leave indefinitely. He has made no comment about wanting to join Juventus and it is entirely possible that he may stay in the Midlands.
Villa fans are likely to want the man who used to be club captain to remain at the club as he has been a revelation in an unfavoured right back slot this season.
Mellberg has an affinity with the club and he may yet decide he wants to end his career at the Villa. Our message is don't head for the off Olof!
