Laursen backs Reo-Coker

Reo-Coker is an important part of the Villa set-up under manager Gerard Houllier, according to the Danish former centre-back.

"Nigel is a good, hard-working midfielder," Laursen told the club website, www.avfc.co.uk. "He puts in a shift every game for the team but, make no mistake, he can also see the possibilities going forward.

"He can see those runs and get forward to create chances and score goals.

"Most of all, though, he is a hard-working player. It's always important for any team to have that sort of player - the sort who will battle and graft for the side and put a lot of effort in.

"He works his socks off for the team and it's good to see him influencing things. He has great energy too. He is all-action - he has plenty of strengths. He is a real box to box midfielder. He is a vital member of the team. He has plenty of important attributes. You need that defensive midfielder who can do things for the team."
