Leonhardsen wants to stay at Villa

Leonhardsen, who was signed from Tottenham on just a one year contract said: "Two goals in two home games is a good record and I hope I can keep it going. I've enjoyed a run of games now and played for the national team last week, so I feel great and my form is getting better and better.

"It's not a case of proving anybody wrong. Tottenham always thought I was a good player but it just wasn't to be there. This is just for myself. It's good to play and show that I can do a good job and score goals in the Premiership.

"I'm not the type who will take people on and make my way to the by-line, but I will try and do things my way - and that means working hard. I'm very pleased when I can be in the box and create chances for myself and for others.

"My contract was only for one year, and Villa have an option for another year on top of that. We'll see what happens, but all I can do is to concentrate and to work hard and hopefully there will be a place for me here.”
