Liverpool bid for Barry

Rafa Benitez has reacted to Liverpool's crushing Champions League exit by making a bid for Villa skipper Gareth Barry.
The offer is not a straight cash deal with Benitez prepared to offer players such as former Villan Peter Crouch and John Arne Riise.
Villa are looking to mount their own European assault as they aim to knock Everton off fifth spot.
News of the bid is not welcomed by manager Martin O'Neill who has kept a settled squad throughout the season.
Barry must focus on the cause of his current side as they look to take over the final European spot against Wigan on Saturday.
Whether the influential midfielder would want a move to Merseyside is debatable. He must realise Liverpool already have a plethora of talent in his position which poses the question: Would he get a game?
Benitez may see Barry as the ideal foil for Steven Gerrard, but the Spaniard only completed a deal for Javier Mascherano in January.
Also to be taken into account is the fact that he has never shown any disappointment with the performances of Xabi Alonso.
So just where would the man at the heart of Villa fit into the heart of Anfield?
The easy option for Barry is not to find out and stay at Villa Park.
Whether he takes it is another matter but his focus must be all Claret and Blue for now.
