Moore issues contract hint

Moore, who scored once in 27 appearances for David O’Leary’s side last term, is currently in contact talks. “I look back on the season fondly,” he told avfc.co.uk, looking not unlike a startled deer. “Not just because I made plenty of substitute appearances and got that first goal, but because I feel more part of the squad. Next season I’m going to come back and try and take more responsibility on the pitch. I want to be more of a leader when I get the chance.

“I suppose I want to make the sort of impact Steven Davis made this season. Davo’s a different class and he really deserved his Young Player of the Year award. He broke into the side and did well enough to get into the international side,” he added, heroically neglecting to mention that that side is Northern Ireland, ranked below such bastions of world football as Turkmenistan and Cyprus in the FIFA world rankings.

“My ambitions haven’t changed at all,” he concluded. “I’m still looking to score a lot of goals and just be a big Premiership player.” Opinion on the 19-year-old varies with most rating him as a promising fringe player although according to one American football website, “Some Villa fans believe Moore is a better prospect that Everon's [sic] Wayne Rooney”.
