The 19-year-old's contract was due to expire on 1 July but after lengthy negotiations the former England Under-19 striker has committed to Villa Park until 2008. Moore made 27 appearances last term, mostly from the substitutes' bench, opening his goalscoring account against Middlesbrough FC in March.

Moore is delighted to have secured his future but admits he did look elsewhere. “It’s a weight of my shoulders,” he said. “As a player you need to now one way or the other where your future is and obviously I always wanted to stay here. Naturally there was interest, but Villa were always my first choice and moving on was always the worst case scenario as far as I was concerned.”
