However, O'Leary has denied being behind the approach and has been in touch with Taylor personally to clear up the confusion.
"Agents who do not represent me are hawking my name around clubs," said O'Leary.
"We are trying to find out who is doing this. Since I left Leeds in the summer I have been linked with a number of jobs that I have absolutely no interest in.
"My lawyer Michael Kennedy is the only person who represents me. Neither myself nor Michael do our business this way. Graham Taylor is fully aware of the situation.
"I have made a point of talking to him personally to explain what is going on."
