"All I know is that from July 9th Lee Hendrie has responded to me. The situation at Walsall was blown out of all proportion," O'Leary told the clubs official website.
"We had another game a few days later and the fans were fantastic towards Lee. Like I said, he has responded to me.
"I've had good chats with all of them individually and about how I want people to be and how I want them to play.
"The fans responded well to Lee against Liverpool on Sunday and he wants to do well for Aston Villa, believe you me."
