Petrov- England will miss Heskey

Last updated : 04 October 2010

Stiliyan Petrov believes England will miss the quality of his Aston Villa team-mate Emile Heskey after he rejected Fabio Capello's plea to end his international retirement. Heskey decided to retire from playing for England after the World Cup. Capello wanted him to be available for the Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro at Wembley on October 12 because of a striker injury crisis. But the 32-year-old, who won 62 caps, has opted to stick with his original decision. Villa skipper Petrov, when asked if England could have cause to regret Heskey's decision, said: "I think so because every time he was playing up front he helped the people playing around him. "He linked very well with Michael Owen and then Wayne Rooney and with everyone he played with. I know how important he is for England. You appreciate things when you don't have them. "People don't give him credit. He is very under-rated but he has been a top striker for years in the Barclays Premier League."
