Making his first appearance for seven weeks, the 32-year-old opened the scoring with a sumptuous long-range effort as his side claimed a 3-1 victory over their city rivals. Paul Green and Craig Gardner were also on target but it was Phillips who took the limelight before he was taken off with a quarter of the game remaining. He is unlikely to play any part in the Spurs match at the weekend although he is in line to make a first-team return against Port Vale on 28 January.
