Postma demands transfer

The Dutch goalkeeper, who has made just twelve Premiership appearances since joining from De Graafschap in May 2002, has made just one start this season, excelling in the side’s 3-1 defeat by Arsenal three weeks ago. But despite keeping the marauding champions at bay for large parts of the match with a string of excellent saves, the portly 28-year-old was immediately relegated to the substitutes bench when Thomas Sørenson recovered from injury.

David O’Leary’s decision clearly left Postma as perplexed as a large proportion of Villa fans and he has now decided, somewhat understandably, that it is time to move on. The chubster notified the club of his feelings and has now instructed his agent to put his feelings in writing. He may remain at the club for the near future though as O’Leary is keen to recoup the £1.5m that he paid for him.

Postma was a key member of the side that collected the Premier reserve league (north) title last season.
