Postponement Is A Plus For Villa

Villa's Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Ewood Park is set to be played on Thursday January 14 (k/o 7.45pm).

The tie, originally scheduled to be fought out last night, had to be postponed after a flurry of snow took it's toll on the north-west.

But, the rearrangement could benefit Villa, who had doubts over the fitness of key man James Milner and youngster Fabian Delph ahead of the game.

The midfield pair are likely to be fully fit by next week, consequently providing manager Martin O'Neill with a big boost.

Another plus for the Claret and Blue will be that they have more time to rest going into the first leg as they travel to Wigan on Saturday whereas Blackburn must travel to Eastlands two days later.

So, while anticipation of the encounter reaches fever pitch, it will hopefully be a case of good things come to those who wait for Villa.
