Roeder closes door to Milner

The 20-year-old almost moved to Villa Park on the final day of the summer transfer window but Roeder has admitted he was happy when Milner returned to Tyneside and has seen the former Leeds star put together an impressive run of form. The England Under-21 international has been linked with Villa again and Roeder said: "Everybody knows James Milner almost went to Aston Villa at the 11th hour in the last transfer window and there is a lot of talk, especially in the midlands, that that is where he will be going in January - but not as far as I and the chairman are concerned.
