Season ticket sales rocket

Sales are up an incredible 350 per cent on the same stage last year as the side seek to beat the record 23,500 who bought season tickets in 1997/98 when John Gregory was promising much. Villa, of course, responded with a brilliant start to the campaign. The side want to attract an average gate of 39,000 next year - 2,000 up on 1998/99 record and 3,000 up on the current figure. To do this they believe they must attract 24,000-25,000 season ticket holders and so pegged prices back two years. Only relegated sides Wigan and Watford are offering cheaper deals to fans for next season.
