Stone, who has been out of favour at Villa Park this season, will link up with former Villa and current Portsmouth captain Paul Merson at Fratton Park.
Stone has made just one appearance for Villa this campaign, in the Intertoto Cup, and recently turned down a similar loan deal with Sheffield Wednesday
