Taylor disappointed

After a non-eventful first half, in-form Marcus Allback put Villa in front against Everton only for the side to concede two golas to the Merserysiders and come away from another away game with nothing to show for their efforts.

“It was very disappointing to come away with nothing, not just because of the late goal, but because we surrendered a lead. That’s the third time we’ve done that away from home recently," Taylor said after the game at Goodison.

"There was a time when we were 15 points clear of the third-from-bottom position.

"Then we went on a horror run of results. And this was the third-successive away game when we haven't been able to hang onto a lead.

"We are not mathematically safe and we are well aware that there could still be a banana skin around the corner waiting for us.

"I'm very disappointed with the result, and we felt that we had done enough not to be as cruelly treated by fate as that.

"But David Moyes has done a great job at Everton, he has a tight, competitive unit."
