Hull City are in pole position to snap up Villa striker Marlon Harewood.

The former Nottingham Forest and West Ham front man has fallen down the pecking order in the Midlands and Tigers boss Phil Brown is ready to give him an escape route.

Brown is well known to favour physical forwards in the mould of Harewood as he enjoyed success with Daniel Cousin and Marlon King during the last campaign.

And with Harewood's agent openly admitting that his client is destined for a summer switch, a £2m move to the KC Stadium looks a distinct possibility.

Middlesbrough are also thought to be in the running but after suffering relegation from the Premier League manager Gareth Southgate must decide who he is prepared to sell before he buys

Holte hero Harewood failed to impress whilst on loan at Wolves last season but he will now be hoping for a brighter future with a permanent move.
