Vidic Void

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic will miss Villa's game at Old Trafford on April 5 after being sent off against Liverpool.

The Serbian centre back, who is a contender for Premier League Player of the Year, will be absent for United's trip to Fulham and for the home game against the Claret and Blue.

Prior to the 4-1 mauling of Sir Alex Ferguson's men on their own turf on Saturday, you would have said that Vidic being out would be a big miss for the Reds.

But, the towering defender finally proved that he is fallible as Fernando Torres and co ripped him apart and forced him into a number of errors. Torres capitalised on an early misjudgement from Vidic and in the second half the Serb brought down Steven Gerrard, when through on goal, which earned him the sending off.

Villa will now be confident that they can have a go at a United defence that had broken a Premier League record not so long ago for most consecutive clean sheets.

But, with Jonny Evans the likely replacement for Vidic, it's not exactly going to be an easy day for Gabby Agbonlahor and his fellow attackers.
