Villa Should Avoid O'Neill Sales

Last updated : 14 December 2011 By Matt LeCameron

Without treading the O'Neill ground again, let it just be said that he left the club with no consideration or professionalism, and although recognised as a good manager he is not well liked amongst a lot of the Villa faithful.

There are likely to be exits from the club in the summer, and Heskey will be free to go...probably to Sunderland. That will be fine, and if O'Neill would like to repay the club for some of the other less popular signings then they will also go smoothly.

However, to sell a talented prospect like the Fonz would be an enormous mistake. Not only would it be a mistake to sell such players to any club for obvious reasons, but selling to a former manager that left in the way he did would, and should, anger the supporters.

The club has had enough turmoil, and if McLeish and Lerner really do want to steady the ship then they need to keep hold of the best players Villa have. Any hints of selling in this manner should be dismissed immediately.
