Ward makes rapid impact

The 19-year-old joined Jim Gannon's side only yesterday but quickly found his stride at Gigg Lane, robbing Bury captain David Challinor and releasing Liam Dickinson to seal the points for the Cheshire side. Ward had already tested Shakers goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after coming on in the 73rd minute and could now push for a place in the side for Saturday's trip to Cheltenham Town.

Ward, who can play in midfield or as a full-back, is to stay with Stockport until 8 April. He has captained Villa's reserve side but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premiership club.
