The 22-year-old former England Under-21 international, who has played only four times for Villa this season, passed a medical in Wales yesterday to seal a move to a club that began to pursue him last year. A survivor of Villa's FA Youth Cup winning side in 2002, Whittingham would have been out of contract at the club at the end of the season having struggled to cement a place in the first team after making his debut against Newcastle in 2003. He departs having scored twice in 39 appearances in all competitions.
