Argentine In For Free?

Argentine centre-back Renato Civelli is rumoured to be on his way to England when his contract expires this summer.

Villa have emerged a prime candidates for his signature after the ambitious 25 year-old made clear his intentions to join a big English or Spanish club.

Blackburn and Sunderland are also thought to be keeping tabs on Civelli but with Villa again playing European football next season, the Argentine would inevitably opt for the Claret and Blue as his No.1 destination.

Civelli was reportedly set for a move to Belgian side Anderlecht, a claim which he has since refuted because he is eager to test himself at the highest level in one of the top European leagues.

This season the talented defender came so close to helping French giants Marseille break Lyon's title dominance which had been in place since 2002.

Unfortunately for Civelli and his teammates, it was Bordeaux who triumphed finishing three points clear of the men from Stade Velodrome with Lyon finishing third.

After such disappointment, the defender will hope to move on to bigger and better things this summer. Cue Villa.
