Berg Provides Alternative Focus For Martin

It may not be just Villa's trio of England Under 21 stars who will be focusing intently on their Swedish opposition during Friday's European Championship semi-final clash.

James Milner, Gabby Agbonlahor and Craig Gardner will of course be looking to help their side into the final against Italy or Germany but their club boss Martin O'Neill will view the match from a different perspective.

The Northern Irishman will inevitably be backing his players to the hilt and hoping they don't pick up injuries, but he will also be casting an eager eye over the progress of young Swede Marcus Berg.

The 22 year old striker, who currently plays in Holland for Groningen, has attracted interest from across Europe after scoring five goals in just three group games.

Berg is currently rated at around £10m and that figure could rise if he helps his country past Milner, Agbonlahor and co on Friday.

O'Neill will be aware of that fact, giving him even more reason to spur on Stuart Pearce's men in what should be a titanic encounter.
