Heskey To Hit The High Road Just When He Is Hitting Form?

Just as he has finally started to score, the rumours about Emile Heskey leaving Villa Park have begun to fly.

The big England front man, who was a pivotal figure in wins at Sunderland and Portsmouth over recent weeks, is being strongly linked with a move away from the Midlands.

Reports in the north-east are suggesting that Martin O'Neill may be set to reignite his interest in Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, with Heskey likely to be part of a swap deal.

Should he further his interest, O'Neill would be forced to part with a substantial amount of cash as well as Heskey if he is to obtain the services of Jones.

The 25 year-old was close to a move to Tottenham durting the summer but Harry Redknapp could not find enough cash to prize him away from the Stadium of Light.

Now it seems that Villa will have a go, in order to bolster their challenge for a top four spot.

Heskey, though, would be sacrificed and that would appear to be a strange move considering he is just rediscovering his best form.

But, he still remains a target for some Claret and Blue fans, who do not believe that he is good enough for their side due to his poor scoring ratio.

Nevertheless, Jones has hardly set the Premier League alight this season and for that reason it may be slightly frivolous to swap him for a man who is quite clearly in form.
