Injury Update

Gabby Agbonlahor should return sooner rather than later from a hamstring injury he picked up in Villa's thrilling 3-3 draw against Everton at Villa Park.

The young England striker pulled up midway through the second half and was eventually replaced by his protégé Nathan Delfouneso.

Agbonlahor underwent a scan after the game and the results have shown he suffered a strain rather than a tear meaning the recovery time should not exceed a couple of weeks.

With the clock ticking down to the end of the season, Agbonlahor will be eager to get back to his best and prove his doubters wrong.

One man who will be keen to make the most of a gap in the Villa strike force is Emile Heskey.

The former Wigan target man has been out since March 28 when he sustained a hamstring injury on international duty but he is now nearing full fitness and should be in the squad for the game against West Ham on Saturday.

However, the news is not so good for Martin Laursen. The Danish defender was expected back for Villa's trip to Manchester United on April 5 but suffered a setback.

Now it looks likely that Laursen will sit out the remainder of the campaign and fears have been raised for his future in football.

But all Villa fans will be hoping that a good summer for their captain will get him back on track for a first team return in the new season.
