Peter Whittingham was on target as England Under-21s beat Norway 3-1 in a friendly at Madejski stadium.

The Villa midfielder broke the deadlock with a well-struck free-kick midway through the first half, paving the way for Blackburn's David Bentley to seal victory with two second-half strikes. Whitts was one of three Villa players in action in Reading, with Liam Ridgewell and James Milner also handed starts.
