Delightful Delph Shines On Debut

Fabian Delph lit up Villa Park as his new side secured another major confidence boost ahead of the new season.

Delph, who signed from Leeds this week, was given his non-competitive debut and the starlet impressed many before being withdrawn on 78 minutes.

The 19 year-old midfielder displayed his flegdling class and exhibited his calm persona when in possession.

His display led some fans to question whether Villa will really miss Gareth Barry, the former Villa captain struck, who struck for Man City against Celtic at Eastlands while his old side were seeing off La Viola.

Of course everyone will notice Barry not being in the team. He brought so much to the table. But who is to say that Delph cannot one day emulate the England star and maybe even become better. On this performance you wouldn't bet against it.

Emile Heskey grabbed the winner against Fiorentina and his display was impressive all round, but in truth all eyes were on Delph.

Leeds fans were sad to see him go but they understand that he needed a Premier League move to further his progression.

He now has a big chance to break into a top six side. With Barry gone and Stiliyan Petrov currently injured, it's an opportunity that he doesn't look like squandering.

Even if he does not come good in the league immediately, Delph has time on his side and following his fantastic Fiorentina display all fans will be eager to see more of their new man/boy.
